Multiple Regression

Check out that equation Keith is writing on the board for our Time Series Analysis and Forecasting course. Is it just me or does that thing look ridiculous?

We are assigned to write a 15-30 page report every single week this quarter. That is not a typo. Professor Tsai, our wonderful stats professor (no sarcasm…seriously!), e-mails us a set of data ranging from cell phone adoption rates, real estate home sales or airline revenues over a period of time. Our job is to use statistical methods to analyze the data and to create a compelling story in report form.

This is an elective course. Why am I taking it then? Well, I am here to challenge myself and to gain new skills I didn’t have prior to business school. The ability to take a limited amount of information, analyze it, create a story, and to solve a problem is definitely a valuable skill that will benefit me for the rest of my career.

For all you new admits, this will be you next year! Don’t get scared though. You will be just fine. Business school is a great time to try new things and explore opportunities you wouldn’t get elsewhere. The sleepless nights juggling school, club activities, networking and of course all the fun social activities here at UC Davis is definitely worth it. I’m sure you already know that.

Anyways, it’s finally spring and it’s beautiful outside. I need to hurry up and figure out how to use that multiple regression equation model. I have an intramural softball game tonight then I’m meeting up with a bunch of classmates for drinks! Can’t wait…
